SUMMARY OF THE LESSION FROM PROF CHAWINGA (Information behavior and Literacy education)

 

INFORMATION SYSTEMS, INFORMATION SEEKING BEHAVIOUR CONTRACTING EXAMPLES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND MYTHS ABOUT INFORMATION SYSTEMS.

At the first information providers were more concerned with systems then after thinking so deeper and they said no (1970) systems only are not enough we will no satisfies the needs of users.  Then there agree to move from information systems to information seeking behaviors so that they will be able to satisfy the needs of the users.  That is the only reason for shifting from information system to information seeking behavior.  That time people were much focused on libraries professional and professional conferences, articles, newspapers, radios and many more.  Systems can also called technologies (the carries of information) Now information providers they are focusing on individuals, their needs and how to meet it and what king of results they are experienced.   Apart from information system and also information behaviors we also learned contracting examples of information behavior and the myths about information systems.

MYTHS ABOUT INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND INFORMATION BEHOUVIOURS.

1 Only objective information is valuable

2 More information is always better

3 Objective information can be transmitted out of context

4 Information can only be acquired through formal sources

5 There is relevant information for every need

6 Every need situation has a solution

7 It is always possible to make information available or accessible.

8 Time and space of individual can be ignored in address of information seeking and use.
