Summary Lesson on 11 December 2025 Information Literacy models A model its like a guiding too in whole research, there many model that are commonly used in social science and some are as follows: 1 Big six model, which is information literacy well known model done by Eisenberg and Beckwitz in 1990. 2 Seven pillars of information literacy (SCONUL, 1999) 3 pathways t knowledge this model was developed by pappers Tape, 2002 4 PLUS model which was developed James Hernning in 1996 5 Seven faces of information Literacy developed by Bruce in 1997 Big six information Literacy model or information solving problem model The model is all about how people acquire information or retrieve it. It demonstrates the way in which individual learn to recognize their specific information needs and continue with various steps. This model has five core elements  Task definition  Information seeking strategies  Locate and access  Use of information  Synthesis  Evaluation Task definition, at this stage is where students have a problem that is needed to be solved. For Example, the student has an assignment, first of all need to take a look into the assignment and think about how to deal with it and where to get the solution of it items of information sources. Information seeking strategies, these are the ways students employ to search for information. In addition to that students need to think about difference sources of information such as Library, or digital platforms. Locate and access Afte visiting different digital platforms such as online database, e- Libraries, google scholar and many more, students need to access right and relevant information from those recommendations sources. Use of information After finding the needed information now is when the user applies it to solve the problem. For students it can be an assignment or research. Synthesis This involves summaries and paraphrasing information, students put information on their knowledge.
